Managing Director of Screen Pages, a profitable web-based solutions provider to the mid-market. Repositioned business around two core markets: mail order and financial services. Spun out employee benefits solution into separate business and developed core business into leading managed e-commerce provider for mail order and retail companies.

Intelligent Environments Group plc (1985-2001)

IEN is a provider of application software solutions to the financial services market: my biggest achievement was successfully transitioning the company from a supplier of middleware into an enterprise applications vendor and leading 3 years of growth at nearly 100% per annum. I was a co-founder in 1985, with VC funding from Baillie Gifford and MTI. Responsibilities over time included Marketing Manager, Business Development Director, Senior Vice President North America, Managing Director Europe (1992-8) and Chief Executive (1999-2001). Achievements include:

• Founded company (with others) in 1985 and left with revenues in excess of £10m and 100+ staff
• Led significant AIM institutional fund-raising in 1999, securing £8m for expansion via rights issue and open offer
• Grew e-business revenues from £2.2m in 1998 to £8m+ in 2000
• Built new management and sales teams to fuel company growth post fund-raising
• Re-launched IEN as provider of e-business software for banks and insurers (deal sizes ca. £500k)
• Drove partnership programme with leaders such as Deloitte & Touche, Unisys, BT and First Data
• Won blue-chip contracts at RBS, Woolwich, HFC Bank, Generali, Anite Systems, Los Angeles County, Motorola and Bank of New York
• Secured interest-free loan from Microsoft in 1991, by personal direct approach to Bill Gates
• Active participant in IEN flotation in 1996 with subsequent plc leadership as Chief Executive
• Ran sales and support operations (1989-1991) in North America
• Launched expert system product (“Crystal”) in 1986, which quickly gained market leadership

Helix Software (1980-1985)

Helix implemented wholesale and investment banking solutions in the UK and Europe. My experience was chiefly as programmer, systems analyst and project manager. Achievements include:

• Established DTI-funded research club for expert systems in finance
